Festival in the world : La Tomatina

Now, there are many festivals in the world, such as : La Tomatina, Tet, Haloween, Easter....but La Tomatina is the festival I like most. And now I will tell you some things about this exciting festival.

La Tomatina is a seasonal festival held in Brunol, Spain. It's celebrated on the last Wednesday of August every year to celebrate the tomato harvest. The festival attracts thousand of people. It often lasts for a week with lots of activities such as dance, parade and many music programs. Before the world's biggest food fight, some people has already placed the ham on the top of the greasy pole.

At about 11am, the first event of the La Tomatina Festival begins. The battle of tomato is only started when someone climbs to the top of the pole and carries the meat down. Everyone  all try to win this event in order to make the battle begins. The battle of tomatoes on the street starts with a loud bang of the cannon. Bags of tomatoes from trucks are thrown to the crowd. The chaos begins. Each person throw the tomatoes at one another. People are encouraged to wear googgles and gloves. Also, to be safe, participants must crush the tomatoes before throwing them in.

After one or two hours, the battle ends with a loud bang of the cannon. The town is always red with river of tomato juice. Everybody go to the Brunol river to take a shower. After that, they enjoy Paella - a traditional food.

I think it's the most unusual festival I have ever known. However, it's very exciting and interesting. I hope that I can attend this festival once. And you? What is your favorite festival ?
